I have less than 5 employees so I don't need to do it

As you undoubtedly will be aware, if you have less than 5 employees, many elements of Health & Safety requirements do not apply.  The requirement for a Responsible Person to carry out a Fire Risk Assessment remains.  You could be a self employed person, working alone, never have any visitors, but you still require a Fire Risk assessment to be carried out.  It is generally true, that with less than 5 employees, your Fire Risk Assessment does not need to be documented, unless your premises is licenced, or an alterations notice is in force.  We strongly recommend documenting the Fire Risk Assessment, because without documentation, you will have no evidence that the assessment was carried out, and findings actioned and implemented.
